That one pool you've definitely seen on the gram.
A no-fuss itinerary for a day in Sydney.
- Flight: $140 AUD one-way from Auckland to Sydney with Jet Star
- Accommodation: $35 AUD per night at The Village in Surry Hills. This was a cute and homey hostel, located in a more residential area of Sydney. It is a ten minute walk from Central Station, making it convenient to get around the city.
- Transport: I bought a re-chargeable subway pass, which can also be used to commute to and from the airport. One way from the airport and Central Station was $16 AUD. In total, I spent $40 AUD.
I took an early flight out of Auckland and landed in Sydney before lunch. After checking into the hostel, here's what I did:
Lunch at Pizza Birra on Crown St: Still in the trendy Surry Hills neighborhood, I ate a delicious prosciutto pizza at this joint (as seen on my Instagram). I took my good time strolling around on this street, checking out the high-end boutiques, stocked with brands at par with what I expected of chill & chic Aussie fashion.
Bondi Beach: The public transport is very easy to navigate, so finding my way to this infamous beach was no problem. Get off at Bondi Junction and exit onto the main road and you'll see multiple buses that go to the beach. Of course, I stopped by to take some shots of the pool, which is actually kind of underwhelming if I'm being honest. Along side the Icebergs, I walked about half of the Bondi to Bronte path and stopped at one of the cliffside to just sit and relax.
Sydney Opera House: My brain makes an automatic association to Finding Nemo to this iconic building. Such a classic movie. Anyways. I enjoyed the sunset from this harbour, my last from this far-away part of the world!
And that was my day in Sydney. Just how I like it, anti-climactic.
