LADIES WHO LUNCH EVENT AT RESTAURANT LAUREA
This past fall, I had the pleasure attending the "Ladies who Lunch" event, hosted by the ever-so-lovely Jessica, better known as Westmount Fashionista. The event gathered career women from Montreal's fashion industry, for an afternoon of networking and enjoying some fine dining. Restaurant Laurea spoiled us with a four-course menu created by Chef Hakim Chajar. On top of that, we got a private wine tasting lesson by the renowned sommelier, Jessica Harnois, from Opimiam. I'm not at all an wine aficionado, so I learned a lot about catching the subtle undertones and even guessing from which region each glass was from. The trendy Outremont spot was the perfect place, and I am looking forward to go back for the richest chocolate mousse. Yet another meticulously planned event by the Stop and Stare PR team.
I was so honoured that Jessica thought of me for this luncheon, because I couldn't help but feel a bit under qualified next to these women who are already so established in their careers. Standing by Elle's beauty editor, while exchanging emails with Holt Renfew's social media manager made me realize again the importance of mastering the art of networking. It's truly a skill that needs to be practiced and tweaked before networking becomes natural and less intimidating. Being in a room filled with smart and strong women is so inspiring, and makes me excited to start my own career.
